Righteousness Over Recogonition

1 Samuel 1:1-8 - Rumya Ranjith

In a world that often celebrates loud victories, Elkanah’s story reminds us of the quiet strength found in doing what’s right—consistently and faithfully. Elkanah was a man of integrity. His yearly journey to Shiloh to offer sacrifices wasn’t just tradition—it was a reflection of his deep obedience to God’s law.

As a husband and father, he navigated the tensions in his household with grace. He never made Hannah feel less than; instead, he comforted her in her pain and stood by her in her vow to dedicate Samuel to the Lord. When the time came, Elkanah honored that vow without hesitation. His reward? He became the father of one of the most powerful prophets in the Bible—Samuel.

💬 Was it worth it? Absolutely. Elkanah’s legacy teaches us that righteousness may not always be loud, but it is always powerful.

🙏 Prayer: Dear Lord, strengthen us to walk in righteousness even when it’s hard. Help us honor You above all and give us grace for this new day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
